After Babel, Shem’s lineage (Noahs son) mentions Joktan and his descendants moved towards the eastern mountains and it is supposed most Asian countries descend from this line. The Himalayan mountains toward the east would certainly qualify for this descriptor and to think that they still live here today.

Acts 17:26 tells us that “From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries”. Indeed this means that God has set Joktans descendants in this land for thousands of years.

There is an ancient fragrance to the people of Nepal. They are a contented people. I noted during our worship time their melodies were as up and down as the nearby landscape. Their anointing to pray is like no place I have been to before (however I have heard China and North/South Korea have the same prayer life).

We led a training session today where Colin discussed that Abrahams descendants (Jews) were called to be a blessing to all peoples (Genesis 12:3). Then Christs coming was to redeem the ‘gentiles’ including the lineage of Joktan and his descendants. God never forgot them in their ancient boundaries.

In the ‘last hour of the day’ God is coming to gather the mountain people to the wedding feast of the lamb, to include them in His Kingdom. They are being commissioned into His work.

After the session a couple in their 40’s came to ask for prayer to be commissioned to plant a church in their village, which is largely unreached. It’s likely they will follow through on this within the year as it’s not uncommon for people to feel the call to plant a church and do it.

This is the reason christianity is expanding rapidly in Nepal, because God is calling believers to plant churches. What a powerful testimony that Gods call fell upon people today and they responded as if it was a normal thing God had asked them to do.

It took us several months of prayer, faith and stepping out to plant The Mission House. It was a big deal. While I don’t know how long they’d been discussing this ‘dream’, I do know that after Colins message they said yes almost strait away. Their faith surges on the whiff of an oily rag and they follow through.

It’s for this reason you’ll hear me repeat the phrase till I’m blue in the face: we need missionaries from the developing nations to come and awaken our faith.

“COME HELP US NEPAL”.
